Description

M27 is also known as the Dumbbell Nebula and is located about 1200 light years away from Earth in the constellation of Vulpecula. It is an example of what's called a planetary nebula due to its shape and appearance in binoculars or small telescopes. The central region is marked by a pattern of dark and bright cusped knots, and the outer shell is also seen here outside the main roughly spherical body giving it a butterfly-like appearance.

About 11.5 hours of acquisition time using Red, Green, Blue, Hydrogen Alpha and Oxygen III filters. 120 second subs RGB and 600 second subs Ha and OIII.
